Laguna de La Cocha is a glacial reservoir surrounded by Andean mountains. It is a biodiversity sanctuary and a must-visit destination if you are in the Nariño department.

It was declared a wetland of international importance in 2000. Its crystal-clear waters reach depths of up to 75 meters, and its shores, along with La Corota Island, are home to birds, amphibians, and endemic plants.

Laguna de La Cocha is located in the Nariño department, in the southwest of Colombia. It is about a 40-minute drive from the city of Pasto, the capital of the department.
The most common way is to first reach Pasto:
By plane: Land at the Antonio Nariño Airport (Chachagüí). From there, take a taxi or bus to Pasto. We recommend going out and waiting for other travelers to share the taxi, so you can split the fare, which is $65,000 COP. In fact, the taxi drivers will tell you: “wait until it fills up.”
In Pasto: Tell the driver to drop you off at the Plaza de Bolívar (last taxi stop). Head to the Plaza del Carnaval (you can walk, it’s close, or take a taxi). There, ask about the vans that go to Laguna de La Cocha.
Address: Here’s the address for you to look up on Google Maps: Carrera 20a #19-36, Pasto, Nariño
Price and time: It costs $8,000 COP and the journey takes about 40 minutes to the lagoon.
