Los Viajes de Jham
The Tatacoa Desert, although not a desert in the strict sense, offers a unique arid landscape in Colombia. Spanning 330 km², it is ideal for those seeking adventure, stargazing, and photography.
It is located in the Huila department, in the Andean region of southwestern Colombia. The main access is from the city of Neiva to the municipality of Villavieja, the gateway to the desert.
To Neiva: There are direct flights from Bogotá to Neiva, taking approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, or buses from various cities in the country.
In Neiva: Take a bus to Villavieja, the closest town to the Tatacoa Desert.
In Villavieja: We recommend taking a tour with the Tuk Tuks available in town; they will take you on a complete tour of the area.
Car rental: In Neiva, you can rent a vehicle to travel at your own pace and explore the desert.

The ochre tones, terraces, and sediment cones create ideal settings for photography at sunrise and sunset. Respect restricted areas and avoid touching fragile formations.
