Capurganá is a coastal town in the Acandí district (Chocó), on the border with Panama. It is a perfect place for those seeking nature, beaches, and the opportunity to cross into Panama from the coast.
The most economical and common route combines land and sea. Below, I detail the steps, approximate costs (which may vary), and times.
Flight to Montería (from Bogotá): Upon arrival, take a taxi to the transportation terminal for $35,000 COP. Try to talk to other travelers to share the taxi and reduce the cost. There is a bus from the airport, but it can take over an hour, so I do not recommend it.
Bus or minivan to Necoclí: Once in Montería, take a van to Necoclí, which costs approximately $55,000 COP. There is also the option of a larger bus for $45,000 COP. The larger buses make stops along the way, so they may take longer.
Boat Necoclí – Capurganá: Once in Necoclí, head to the port and take a boat to Capurganá, which costs approximately $180,000 COP (round trip).
Going to Sapzurro (Optional): In Capurganá, there are 2 ways to get there, either a hike of about 1 hour or take a boat for $15,000 COP.
There is also the option to arrive by air (direct flight to Acandí). It is faster but tends to be more expensive.

Visit Sapzurro and La Miel: Enjoy the crystal-clear waters and the hike to La Miel (a beach in Panama). If you cross the border, bring an identification document or passport.
Diving and snorkeling (El Aguacate bay): El Aguacate bay has coral and clear waters. It is 10 minutes by boat or 1 hour walking. Bring snorkeling gear or coordinate dives with local operators.
Cabo Tiburón Beach: Cabo Tiburón in Sapzurro is an excellent viewpoint and swimming beach. You can reach it by boat or via the trail; the hike from Sapzurro can take about 20 minutes depending on your pace.
Don't miss the pargo encocado, ceviches, and sancochos. The local cuisine uses many fresh ingredients from the sea and the tropics.
