The San Bernardo Archipelago is located in the Caribbean Sea, about 50 km from Cartagena, on the northern coast of Colombia. It consists of a group of 10 islands, both natural and artificial. Some of the most visited include Isla Múcura, Tintipán, Isla Palma, Santa Cruz del Islote, and Boquerón.

To get there, you first need to travel to Cartagena or Montería. From there, take a bus to Tolú.
In Tolú, head to the maritime port and take a boat to the archipelago. The last boat usually leaves around 9:00 a.m., so plan your arrival accordingly.
Keep in mind that there are no ATMs on the islands, so it's best to bring cash, preferably in small bills.

These islands have been inhabited by fishermen and Afro-Colombian communities for generations. For years, it was a little-known destination, mainly visited by locals. Today, it is an alternative for those seeking quiet beaches and less tourism than in other Caribbean destinations.

Isla Tintipán: White sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters. Ideal for snorkeling, diving, and connecting with nature.

Isla Múcura: Perfect for relaxing, boating, and visiting places like the Ensenada del Tesoro.

Santa Cruz del Islote: One of the most densely populated islands in the world, with a unique local community.

Each island offers a different experience, so it's worth visiting several during your trip.
The plan here is to enjoy the sea, nature, and explore various islands. Here are the main activities:
Snorkeling and diving: Explore reefs and marine life. Snorkeling is ideal in shallow areas, while diving takes you deeper.
Boat tours: Explore different islands, beaches, and landscapes in a single day. It's one of the best ways to get to know the archipelago
Birdwatching: In mangroves and natural areas, you can see different species in their habitat.
Local cuisine: Try typical dishes like coconut rice, ceviche, and egg arepas.
Before traveling, keep these tips in mind to avoid surprises and enjoy your experience more:
Bring enough cash, as there are no ATMs on the islands.
Protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. The weather is strong during the day.
Take care of the environment: avoid plastics and respect the reefs.
If traveling with children, you will find calm and safe beaches, ideal for them.
If traveling with pets, check in advance if your accommodation allows it and bring what is necessary for the heat.
