Tayrona Park is located on the northern coast of Colombia, in the Magdalena department, approximately 45 minutes from the city of Santa Marta. It covers about 150 km² with ecosystems ranging from beaches to tropical rainforest.
Simple options from Santa Marta:
From the Public Market or the Transport Terminal, take a bus to Riohacha or Palomino and get off at one of the entrances. The journey takes about 40 minutes and costs $12,000 COP.
El Zaino is the main entrance and the most recommended. From there you can walk to Arrecifes, La Piscina, and Cabo San Juan.

The park offers activities for all tastes: beaches, trails, wildlife observation, and photography. Here are the main ones:
Cabo San Juan del Guía: This is the most famous postcard: beach, crystal-clear waters, and jungle around. It is close to Boca del Saco (nudist beach). To get there: enter through El Zaino, take a van to the start of the trail, and walk about 5 km.
La Piscina Beach: La Piscina is a cove protected by rocks, ideal for safe swimming. It tends to get crowded with those heading to Cabo San Juan.
Hiking and Walks: The trails connect you with beaches, viewpoints, and untouched nature areas. Recommendation for the long hike:
The route from Zaino to Cabo San Juan is 7 km. Start early and consider splitting it into 2 days: day 1 to Playa Arrecifes; day 2 to Cabo San Juan.
